This warm, humble dessert brings back fond memories of being 10 years old.

Packed full of fruit, this classic is just what we fancy as the days get shorter.

Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 1 kg of Bramley apples cut into 1cm slices (peeled and cored)
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp fructose

For the crumble:

  • 100g flour
  • 50g jumbo oats
  • 60g fructose
  • 50g cold butter
  • 50g apple sauce

Instructions

Step 1:

Here we go! Coat your apples in cinnamon and fructose.

Step 2:

Put all your crumble ingredients in a chopper and whizz them up to form bread crumbs.

Step 3:

Arrange the apple layers in a 20cm baking tin overlapping each other. Spread the crumble mix over your apples, pressing it down slightly. Try to form a seal over the apples with the crumble. Bake on 180°C for 35-40 minutes until the crumble is golden brown and the apples are soft underneath.

P.S. Top tip: Serve piping hot straight out of the oven with a big dollop of your favourite ice cream or, even better, homemade custard.
